Rates may vary according to the case For more specific rate information call or e-mail us with your specific requirements. Retainer for Surveillance Cases: We usually charge a $750.00 retainer for surveillance cases in the Birmingham area. A higher retainer may be required for out of town and out of state cases. Hourly rates, mileage, and expenses are taken from the retainer. Rates for Surveillance Cases: $40.00 per hour and .30 cents per mile plus expenses for surveillance cases in the Birmingham / Jefferson County area. We charge $48.00 per hour for night and weekend surveillance. A higher rate will be charged for out of town and out of state cases. Background Checks: The flat rate will vary according to the depth of search you require. Varies from $40.00 to $200.00 Process Service: $15.00 per hour and .30 cents per mile.
